Altitude Adventure holidays are based at our family home and guest chalet, “Le Mouli Del Riu” in the hamlet of Le Mouli, on the edge of the village of Saint Pierre dels Forcats. “Le Mouli Del Riu” is owned and run by your hosts Ian and Angela Pendry.
Your hosts were previously based in the Derbyshire Peak District and have taken on the challenge of running a small family operated holiday business, specialising in outdoor activities. During the summer season we will use our local knowledge of the trails and mountain paths to offer classic mountain biking to all-comers. As enthusiastic all-round outdoor people we will be able to advise you and point you in the direction of many other mountain activities available in our area. Quality biking/skiing time and having fun is what this business is all about.
With a degree in Recreation, Leisure and Tourism Management, she appreciates the importance of enjoying your holiday with like-minded enthusiasts - friends or family. However, never let her quiet understated attitude lull you into a false sense of security. Angela spent 10 years racing cross country mountain biking to the highest level, including six years racing the Grundig World Cup circuit. Since then she has "dabbled" with Enduro and has stood on podiums with the likes of Anne Caroline Chausson and current Enduro World Champion, Cecile Ravanel.
Bringing many years of outdoor pursuits experience to the company, she loves riding the local trails, would ride the roads too if only there weren't so many new off road trails to explore. When she's not riding the trails she's busy baking endless supplies of cakes and puddings. She is a qualified International Mountain Leader, holds the OTC Mountain Bike Leader Award, a Wilderness First Aid certificate and has a previous successful background of international cross-country mountain bike racing and orienteering.
In winter she enjoys snow-shoeing, cross country skiing and some ski-mountaineering.
Well known for his ‘go for it’ attitude and a background in extreme sports of all kinds, from surfing to rock climbing. An OTC qualified Mountain Bike Guide, a qualified International Mountain Leader and a holder of a Wilderness First Aid certificate makes Ian one of the most qualified and experienced guides working in the industry. With a degree in Recreation, Leisure and Tourism Management, he knows how to get the most out of an outdoor sports holiday.
After 12 years of working in sales and product development for Scott Sports (including racing for and managing the Scott Mountain bike Race team) he felt it was time to have a new base and help others enjoy themselves in the arena he loves.
For the winter season our aim is to provide an easy going base for classic ski chalet style holidays or a base for the more adventurous to explore from.
Danny Milner reports after an April biking visit to us...." I'm guided along alpine singletrack beneath limestone bluffs the spitting image if the Dolomites or the Canadian Rockies, along precipitious terraces overhung by ochre rock formations that resemble parts of Colorado, and through pine forests scattered with huge granite boulders that remind me of Lake Tahoe. It's like a journey through the world's best singletrack, condensed into a 25km radius."
