Altitude Adventure holidays are based at our family home and guest chalet, “Le Mouli Del Riu” in the hamlet of Le Mouli, on the edge of the village of Saint Pierre dels Forcats. “Le Mouli Del Riu” is owned and run by your hosts Ian and Angela Pendry.
Your hosts were previously based in the Derbyshire Peak District and have taken on the challenge of running a small family operated holiday business, specialising in outdoor activities. During the summer season we will use our local knowledge of the trails and mountain paths to offer classic mountain biking to all-comers. As enthusiastic all-round outdoor people we will be able to advise you and point you in the direction of many other mountain activities available in our area. Quality biking/skiing time and having fun is what this business is all about.
With a degree in Recreation, Leisure and Tourism Management, she appreciates the importance of enjoying your holiday with like-minded enthusiasts - friends or family. However, never let her quiet understated attitude lull you into a false sense of security. Angela spent 10 years racing cross country mountain biking to the highest level, including six years racing the Grundig World Cup circuit. Since then she has "dabbled" with Enduro and has stood on podiums with the likes of Anne Caroline Chausson and current Enduro World Champion, Cecile Ravanel.
Bringing many years of outdoor pursuits experience to the company, she loves riding the local trails, would ride the roads too if only there weren't so many new off road trails to explore. When she's not riding the trails she's busy baking endless supplies of cakes and puddings. She is a qualified International Mountain Leader, holds the OTC Mountain Bike Leader Award, a Wilderness First Aid certificate and has a previous successful background of international cross-country mountain bike racing and orienteering.
In winter she enjoys snow-shoeing, cross country skiing and some ski-mountaineering.
Well known for his ‘go for it’ attitude and a background in extreme sports of all kinds, from surfing to rock climbing. An OTC qualified Mountain Bike Guide, a qualified International Mountain Leader and a holder of a Wilderness First Aid certificate makes Ian one of the most qualified and experienced guides working in the industry. With a degree in Recreation, Leisure and Tourism Management, he knows how to get the most out of an outdoor sports holiday.
After 12 years of working in sales and product development for Scott Sports (including racing for and managing the Scott Mountain bike Race team) he felt it was time to have a new base and help others enjoy themselves in the arena he loves.
For the winter season our aim is to provide an easy going base for classic ski chalet style holidays or a base for the more adventurous to explore from.

Unless you are having ski school in St Pierre dels Forcats we would recommend that you purchase the “Neiges Catalanes” ski pass. This one pass covers the 8 principle ski resorts in the area and allows us to choose where to ski without having to arrange passes for each day. For trips further afield (La Molina & Masella - Spain , Pas de la Casa - Andora) we will arrange passes (roughly euro 35.00) in each resort for the day at the local day rates.
Adult 6 day from 190,00 €
Child 6 day from 167,00 € (5-12 years)
Cross Country Skiing 6 day pass adult 40,00€, child 25,00€
Photos are required for all week lift passes.
Bringing you own equipment is no problem, as we will happily transfer it from the airport with your luggage. We have a store for all equipment whilst staying with us.
If you require equipment hire just let us know when booking we will help organise your requirements with our equipment hire shop. This is payable locally.
We can arrange English speaking ski school for all ages and standards from total beginner upwards with Ecole de Ski Francais in St Pierre dels Forcats. This is payable locally.
It is compulsory that all guests have their own travel insurance whilst on holiday with Altitude Adventure. Winter mountain sports are adventurous activities with inherent risks and in a mountain environment emergency evacuation and treatment is very expensive. We recommend that you take out adequate insurance cover and carry a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). You will be asked to show your insurance documentation on arrival.
As well as this area offering classic skiing and snowboarding from our base in Saint Pierre Dels Forcats there is also the opportunity to take part in many other Alpine activities using local guides and payable locally, these include; -
If you’re into climbing then bring your kit as we have a large bolted crag next to the chalet. There is a world class bouldering area nearby called the Chaos de Targasonne.
There is a Snow kiting school in Font Romeu (http://www.ckite.com/) where we can make arrangements for lessons should you wish to try this amazing new sport.
Thermal water Canyoning
Have you ever tried Canyoning? Try it in winter in thermally warmed water.
We can arrange day trips or more through the local mountain guides. The Cambre d'Aze offers several winter gulley lines including the classic Vermicelle Couloir.
Ski Touring and Ski Mountaineering
Using local guides we can get you to places few others get to in one of Europe’s foremost ski mountaineering areas.
Summer or winter it’s classic.
From a short walk out the back of the chalet or a whole day out with a guide this can be a great way for skiers or non-skiers to get another view of the mountains.
We can arrange ½ day or day sessions with a local centre where you can try your hand at being a “musher” under the guidance of experts.
Danny Milner reports after an April biking visit to us...." I'm guided along alpine singletrack beneath limestone bluffs the spitting image if the Dolomites or the Canadian Rockies, along precipitious terraces overhung by ochre rock formations that resemble parts of Colorado, and through pine forests scattered with huge granite boulders that remind me of Lake Tahoe. It's like a journey through the world's best singletrack, condensed into a 25km radius."
